Chapter 101: A loosing Game
"What are you doing here?" Nathaniel asks seeing that Alexandra was not going to say a word. Feeling a bit sad calms his nerves, hoping for her to tell the truth since he had heard it and there was no need denying it anymore.
"What do you mean what I'm doing here?" Alexandra laughs, tensed.
"Why are you here?" Nathaniel glares at her, trying to suppress the anger burning inside of him.
"I came to watch the moon" she blurted without thinking it through, causing
Nathaniel to raise his brow, looking at the midday sun that shines against her soft skin.
"You got some nerve, Alexandra"
"I... I mean by night falls"
"Alexandra!" He yells causing her to flinch
"Why are you yelling?"
"How dare you lie to me?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Are you going to play dumb with me?"
"Honestly I don't know what you are talking about Nathaniel, I only came here because the breeze in this wood is just so refreshing and is what calms my body" "Didn't you say you came to watch the moon"
Realizing her story wasn't adding up any longer, Alexandra bites her lower lips, turning her face around, ashamed. She never wanted to hurt him let alone lie to him, all she wanted was to play this game Adam started and then end him once and for all.
She didn't expect him to drag Nathaniel into their fight since she hasn't told him anything about that part of her life and wasn't intending to. It wasn't a secret but that part of her life was a closed book and she didn't like talking about it for it reminded her of the naive girl she was once.
"Of course, I came to watch the moon but then, I...I...and I also came for a fresh breeze" she breathes in hating to be lying right to his face.
"Oh yea"
"Yes"
"So you are trying to tell me that you came all the way here just for breeze and watch the moon"
"Yes Nathaniel, why else will I come here?"
"What happened to sitting by the window and talking to the moon"
Alexandra's face lits up, she didn't think he would remember that part of her life. Although she never told him anything, Nathaniel figured it all out the moment he laid his eyes on her, he knew what sort of woman she was, and even though he calls her a girl just to piss her off, Nathaniel knew she was his woman and not some little girl who could easily be deceived.
Alexandra knew her grounds and that was one of the things Nathaniel admired about her.
"Is a big house so I... I have been feeling lonely"
"Lonely?" Nathaniel chuckles hating that she was making a fool of him. "You threw your family out of the house, you got used to sleeping alone, where is this loneliness coming from?"
"Okay fine, I just thought of walking around"
"In the woods?"
"Yes Nathaniel, what's with the questions?" Pissed off over his never-ending questions, Alexandra gazes into his eyes trying to search for something she isn't sure about.noveldrama
"Why are you getting angry?"
"Because you are annoying me by asking questions"
"Let's see you are angry because you are guilty"
"What?" Alexandra's eyes widened and she wonders if he heard her.
This was the first time in so many years Alexandra was caught in a trap she couldn't get out of and had no clue what to do so as not to hurt the man standing before her who has been right by her side even when she doesn't deserve it.
"You can only be angry because you reek of guilt".
"Guilt" she chuckles trying to hide her shame "Why will be guilty? What am I guilty of?"
"Why don't you ask your conscience or perhaps you can ask yourself why you are all alone in the woods by this time of the day"
"What's wrong with that?"
"Ask yourself or perhaps we can go back to the council and ask your pack members. I'm certain they would have the best answers since you already have a mate yet you are asking for it"
As those words rolled out Nathaniel's lips, Alexandra stiffens, he was talking as though he heard yet she was sure if she should just tell him the truth and end it all. It will hurt her because she will lose to Adam and Olivia but at least she will
have Nathaniel by her side.
"What did you just say?"
"You heard me damn right"
Glancing around as Nathaniel's cold gaze bore into her skin, she couldn't stand it any longer, his eyes could kill her and Alexandra didn't want to die by his hands. if anything she only wanted to do the one thing she could think of in situations like this.
"So tell me the truth Alexandra, what are you doing here?"
"I already told you the truth, what else do you want to hear?"
"I don't believe you"
"Well that's your fault"
"Alexandra!" He barks
"What? You know what, I'm not going to stand here and listen to this, I'm leaving" she tries to walk past him when he holds her arm slightly dragging her back.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"What is wrong with me? What the hell is wrong with you Alexandra?"
"I already told you what I know, what else do you want?"
"The truth! Is that so hard to get?"
"I swear to you Nathaniel that what I told you is the truth. I only came here to watch the moon at night and inhale the breeze"
Feeling his adrenaline rush up, Nathaniel clenches his jaw tightly, if Alexandra wasn't a woman and his mate, he wouldn't hesitate to beat her up for daring to lie to his face even when it was already obvious that she was trying to run away with Adam Hawthorn.
Nathaniel attempts to say something when a familiar scent lingers in his nostrils, he frowns his brow, certain he had inhaled the same scent somewhere but
couldn't make out where. "What's that on your body?"
"What?"
"Your body, what's that on your body?"
"What are you talking about? Nothing is on my body"
"That scent, you smell weird. What happened to the mesmerizing scent I love on
your body"
Confused, Alexandra tries to say something when a thought strikes through
causing her to realize it was Adam's cologne.
"I changed hair shampoo"
"I don't believe you"
"I'm telling you the truth but by the way, what are you doing here?"
"I should be the one asking the questions Alexandra"
"I already told you what I am doing here but we can leave now"
"Really?" Nathaniel throws her a suspicious look and she smiles, calmly.
"Alright let's go" He holds her hand, taking a step forward when Adam suddenly appears from behind.
"Alexandra, where are you going?"
Hearing that familiar voice, Nathaniel didn't need to turn back to know who it belonged to, and at that moment, he inhaled the same scent on Alexandra's body causing him to realize the strange scent lingering in his nose was Adam Hawthorn all along.
Although he already knew she was meeting Adam, Nathaniel had trusted that she would tell him the truth so they could put an end to all of this but Alexandra couldn't do that, since she was already aware Adam had planned the game from the beginning, she also knew he could be hiding behind trees waiting on her to say those words and then he would jump in to destroy with she had with Nathaniel.
Either way, she was on the losing side and no matter how she looked at it, she was going to hurt Nathaniel and at the end of it all, lose him but she would never give up on getting him back when the right time came.
"Adam Hawthorn" Nathaniel whispers glancing at her, Alexandra loosens her grip around his hand, and a lot of emotions run through her eyes as she turns to Adams.
"What are you doing to her?" Adam asks, aloud
"He's not doing anything to me" Alexandra turns to look at him.
"What are you doing here?" Adam glares at Nathaniel but deep down was smiling triumphantly. Without being told, he already knew that this was going to be the end of their relationship.
"I should be the one asking you that" Nathaniel states, glancing at Alexandra "what is he doing here? What are doing here with Adam?"
"She's here with me" Adam glances at Alexandra. "Tell him Alexandra or should I do it?"
Caught in between her love and her revenge, Alexandra wanted nothing more than to choose the relationship she was starting to build with Nathaniel and continue with their marriage even though it was just an agreement but she couldn't forget everything that they did to her and pretend like it didn't happen, not when she was so close to giving them a taste of her wrath.
She inhales deeply, this was going to end one way and Alexandra wasn't sure if she only realized it just now or saw it from the beginning."I'm here with him"
"What?" What are you saying?"
Walking away from him, Alexandra moves closer to Nathaniel, knowing she couldn't reveal the truth anymore even if she wanted to know that Adam was present and had taken control of the game and she was just playing to his tune.
"Talk to me Alexandra, what's all this?"
"I came here with Adam"
"Came here? What did you two come to do here?"
"That's none of your business" Adam states
"That's my business because Alexandra is mine. She is my mate!"
Alexandra feels her heart skip a bit, a smile forms on her face but it didn't reach
her eyes. "I'm not yours" she whispers startling Nathaniel.
He had thought he heard wrong earlier and wanted to give her another chance
but Alexandra didn't figure it out. With Adam by her side trying to destroy what she
had with Nathaniel, Alexandra couldn't think straight.
"What's that Alexandra?"
"I'm not yours"
"What are you saying?"
"What she is saying is that we will be together"
"Is that why you came to this woods?"
"Yes," Alexandra started hating the fact that Adam was so close.
She didn't know why she didn't see right through his scheming eyes then she
wouldn't have accepted coming to the woods.
"Was this your plan all along?"
"Adam" she whispers
"Answer me!"
"Tell him the truth Alexandra" Adam smirks triumphantly he couldn't believe he
managed to fool Alexandra. He had thought she was smarter and was going to be
a problem. "Shut your mouth Adam" Nathaniel glares
"Or what?" Adam raises his brow daring him to try and hurt him right before
Alexandra. Without being told, he was aware she was going to try and stop him. "How dare you!" Nathaniel grits his teeth
"I know, I managed to take her away. Told you she was never yours"
"Shut your mouth!".
"What are you going to do to me if I don't?" Adam smiles "What Alpha? oh sorry, I
meant Nathaniel"
As the words left Adams's mouth, Alexandra could feel Nathaniel's anger burst up in the air. No one was allowed to call him by his name aside from her and Adam
knew that but he was playing a wicked game, challenging Nathaniel to a fight but Alexandra wouldn't allow it.
Nathaniel attempts to charge towards him when Alexandra hastily jumps in front of him, shielding Adam startling Nathaniel.
