The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha

Glancing around the woods, the familiar breeze sinks through her skin as the leaves perfectly brush against each other. Alexandra leans against a giant oak tree as her feet shuffle against fallen dry leaves. Adam who has been sitting next to her on the fallen dry pine tree lying on the ground.

"Everything here looks the same" She throws a glance at Adam remembering how she used to love coming to these woods to read whenever she couldn't bear to stay at home anymore.

"When was the last time you were here?"

"It has been a while"

"I could imagine since I often see you running into the other woods"

"Tourists come there a lot, is a good spot and is at the center of the city"

"Yea but I prefer here since is quiet especially as you are next to me" Pretending to be shy, she tucks the hair behind her ear.

"What is it you already planned for me?"

Adam shoots a mischievous smile. "First you have to tell me what you wanted to tell me earlier"

Alexandra pretends to be frowning. "Not until you tell me what you planned, you said is a surprise I don't see anything" she glances around trying to find something she isn't sure of.

"The breeze"

"What do you mean" she raises her brow confused

"You always love the breeze here so I wanted to give it to you in the past but didn't know how to. I just thought you will love it here and besides with everything going on you needed to get out"

"Thank you" she whispers, moved deeply

"You don't have to mention" he slightly pinches her nose. "Now tell me what you wanted to say to me"

"I want to be with you too Adam"

"You already said that, come on tell me"

"Wait you don't understand"

"Tell me then"

"I don't want Nathaniel, I want to run away from the wedding. I don't want it, Adam"

"I knew something was always wrong, go ahead and tell me everything"

By this time Nathaniel who was been lured by Olivia and Adam was just behind the tree, as he attempts to take a step closer to them, he halts, hearing Alexandra's voice.

"You gave up your position for me and want to be together with me so I'm ready to run away from this marriage for you, you mean a lot to me and I want to also be by your side" Alexandra states firmly.

Deep down she knew she was playing the game he had started but what she didn't realize was that in this game he was the game master who intended to be one step ahead of her. Calling the shots while trying to use her moves against her, it was her specialty and Olivia had learned how her mind works while living together with her, Alexandra just didn't realize it.

"Has that man hurt you? Did he do anything to you?"

"No but is you I want, you I want to be with and not him. I want you to be right next to me. Let's be together"

"Of course, we will be together, we will go anywhere, we can even move to the moon if that's what you want" He holds her hand and she smiles, her eyes softening.

"As long as we are together"

"As long as we are together Alexandra because we will always be together"

"Promise me"

"I promise you" He states with sincerity but Alexandra didn't any word he said for she already knew Adam Hawthorn was a two-faced snake who had a uniqueness for being fake.

Leaning closer to her, he whispers in her ear. "Wait here I will be back"

Without saying a word, she nods watching him till he was out of sight, Nathaniel who was still standing behind the tree, molded his fist, his adrenaline rushes up and he couldn't contain the anger burning inside of him any longer.

Alexandra was pushing him to his very limit and he wasn't going to take it anymore. He cared about her and saved her life and on the day he had left her house, he was certain their relationship had deepened in a manner he didn't expect. Even after seeing her ruthlessly murder her stepmother, Nathaniel still didn't say a word and choose to stay by her side, he wanted her more than he wanted to know the entire story and didn't force her to say anything she didn't want to.

Staring into the space for a moment, the familiar scent lingers in her nose from behind and she turns only to meet his cold gaze piercing into her eyes. Bewildered, Alexandra wonders what he was doing in the woods at that moment.

She knew he didn't know where she was going to be and not everyone in the Guerrero pack knows about the woods by the border, they would prefer the popular woods at the center of the city to the lonely woods where no one came to. The only one to who she had revealed the woods to was Adams Hawthorn, the man she had once thought was her mate yet he ended up betraying and killing her horrifyingly and he was going to pay.

Realizing she was been set up by Adam, Alexandra roams her eyes around, trying to figure out the next thing to do. Seeing the look in Nathaniel's eyes, Alexandra didn't need to be told that he was burning with intense rage.

"Did he overhear me?" She thinks to herself "Should I feign ignorance?"

As a lot of things runs through her mind, Alexandra wasn't certain what the right thing to do was the last thing she wanted was to lose Nathaniel, especially now their relationship was supposed to deepen.

Locking eyes with him, Alexandra bites her lower lips disgusted by herself for letting Adam be a step ahead of her. While she had thought she had it all under control, Adam had played his game like a grandmaster setting plans in motion to make certain, he would never have to try hard ever again.

He knew Nathaniel was her strength but he also suspected he was her weakness and Alexandra only figured it out ouw.

"Nathaniel" she whispers tensed up

Without uttering a word he continues to gaze at her intently and she gazes back, wondering what was running through his mind. Nathaniel was a strong Alpha so she couldn't read his mind even if she wanted to.

Hating to be caught in own game, Alexandra molds her fist tightly disliking to be trapped in a crisis.

"Adam had it all figured out, didn't he?" She chuckled inwardly

"Nice spot" she blurts.noveldrama

Realizing how lame she sounded scolds herself but Nathaniel continues to stare stern and unblinking without saying a word. He had a lot of questions running through his mind, questions that needed answers and the only person who could give him what he wanted is Alexandra.

"The breeze here is so refreshing"

"Really?" He whispers with his eyes not blinking for a moment.

"Yes, this is a good spot here" she laughs hoping he would laugh as well but Nathaniel wasn't in the mood. His heart was heavy, and he could only blame Alexandra.

If she had known he was already in the woods where she had texted her earlier to come to meet him. He had come with hopes of spending time with her and having their first picnic together but Alexandra had another plan that involved running away from their marriage with Adam Hawthorn. The same man he had stopped from going closer to her at the council building while claiming her to be his and his alone.

Remembering those words that rolled out of his mouth that day, his heart squeezes, their marriage may have been an agreement but Nathaniel had never made her feel like he only needed her to secure his position at crimson pack. Even while she treated him harshly, Nathaniel choose to treat her like his Luna, he would run to her at every chance. he was with her when she needed help and doesn't hesitate to come running down with the perfect solution for every problem she encountered.

The memory of Alexandra fighting with those mobs crosses his mind and Nathaniel blinks his eyes, he was an Alpha and couldn't show any weakness. "The moon is best to be watched in that spot you're standing" Nathaniel keeps silent, the things running in his head was driving him apart and if he uttered any words, Alexandra may not like the outcome of those words Getting a deafening silence, Alexandra laughs hysterically, wanting nothing more than to tell him the truth, to let him know that this was an act and she had no plans of ever running away from him to go be with Adam Hawthorn, she would be better off without a mate than staying close to Adam.

But Alexandra knows that if she confessed everything to Nathaniel, Adam Hawthorn will know about her plans and everything she had worked so hard to get will go down the drain and if she decides to hide the truth from Nathaniel and play along with Adam by cooperating with him.

She was going to lose Nathaniel and Alexandra didn't want that either. Hurting him was not what she planned for, it was going to break her heart and he didn't deserve it not after he saved her life.

"Nathaniel" she whispers In her head.

Hurting him was out of the question, without having to ask, Alexandra could imagine the reaction on his face when he finally get to talk to her about what he heard.

"How much did he hear?" Alexandra mutters under her breath, closing her for a moment hoping for this to be a nightmare that she would wake up to and face a better reality, one that involved Nathaniel being next to her back in the mansion and she would show him around the house and even her bedroom which has been kept away from the werewolves in her pack but Alexandra wanted him to see it all and laugh at her portrait while sitting on the couch as she would always imagine.

"You are mine, Alexandra Guerrero" his words the other day echoes in her head and Alexandra opens her eyes, meeting his cold gaze.

"Nathaniel" she whispers. "How... I... what do you think of the weather?" She facepalms her forehead, never realizing she was going to be dumb to speak when caught in her own game, this time she was either going to let it all out or risk losing Nathaniel Starkov forever and Alexandra would never want that lose him nor lose to Adam Hawthorn.

"Come on Alexandra say it out," Nathaniel thinks to himself aware she could see right through him and knew exactly what he was thinking and so, he wanted her to say it all out without having to ask questions but Alexandra wasn't going to do any of that, at least not when he expected it.
