The CEO's Mischievous Little Bride

Chapter 704 Susan's Intentions

Randall turned around and saw Susan in the middle of the river. He panicked and jogged towards the riverbank.

Susan had rolled up her sleeves. Other kids were playing by the water, some even had their clothes off and were wearing floaties. But Susan didn't stay in the shallow area;

she went to where the water reached her knees.

"Susan!" Randall rarely shouted, but he did now.

Susan flinched at the sound of her name. She turned to see Randall standing by his shoes on the riverbank. "Randall."

"What are you doing?" Randall extended his hand. "Come here!"

Susan stood her ground, not wanting to move. "Randall, I want to play."

Randall's voice grew stern. "If you want to play, do it in the shallow area. What are you doing over there?"

Susan's dress was already wet at the hem. She clutched the fabric and softly said, "I don't want to come up."

Randall was about to take off his shoes to go after her when Vera shielded her eyes from the sun and ran over. "Susan, come to the shallow area. It's too deep there."

"I want to catch fish."

"If you want fish, I'll buy you some. Come up here. What if there's a strong current that sweeps you away?" Vera waved her hand, urging Susan to come back.

Susan looked at the water around her legs but didn't move.

Randall took off his sneakers and socks, rolled up his pants, and waded into the water. "Do I have to come in and get you?"

Seeing Randall come in, Susan quickly headed back to the shore. "Randall, don't come in. I'm coming up."

Once in the shallow water, Randall grabbed Susan's hand. "You always need a scolding! Why did you go in there? There are only students and kids playing here, no fish."

Soon, Shawn hurried over. "Susan, why are you in the water again? You're more active than Teddy." Teddy, who was usually the troublemaker, was peacefully napping, leaving Susan to cause the commotion.

Susan replied, "I wanted to catch fish."

Shawn said, "If you want fish, Grandpa will buy it for you. No need to catch it yourself. People might think we can't afford fish."

At the shore, Vera went to buy tissues for Randall and Susan to dry their feet and put on their shoes.

Shawn immediately went to buy fish for his granddaughter.

When it was just the two of them, Randall looked sternly at the top of Susan's head. Susan, feeling guilty, looked down and softly said, "Randall, if you eat the fish, you'll pass your exams."

Randall frowned. "Who told you about my exams?"

Susan bit her lip and softly said, "I guessed it myself."

Randall looked around, thinking about the secret he had tried to keep. "How did you guess?"

Susan remembered when Vera asked her what Randall had been up to lately. She had paid more attention to Randall since then.

Not only did Patrick know that Randall stayed up late, but Susan also saw the light in Randall's room from her window. Plus, he often went to the library on weekends to read specific books. Although Susan didn't say anything, she had looked up information about Randall's interests and had a vague idea.

Moreover, Randall's car, which she often rode in, had books in the trunk that she had noticed.

"I saw you studying politics and exam questions, and reading all those professional books at the library. I figured you wanted to switch fields for your exams. But I didn't tell anyone because I knew you didn't want me to know. So I pretended not to notice. But they said eating fish from here would help you pass. So I went into the water to catch fish, hoping it would help you pass next year."

Randall was speechless. He hadn't expected it to be because of him.

His earlier sternness melted into surprise as he looked at Susan. She understood him too well.

Randall's voice was hoarse as he looked at the downcast Susan. "Susan, understanding me too well is dangerous." His tone carried a heavy warning and pressure. Susan didn't dare to meet Randall's eyes.

From a distance, it looked like a young man scolding a girl who had done something wrong.

Molly stood up. "Sebastian, I'm going over. Randall can't control his mouth, and I don't want him to make Susan cry."

"Go ahead."

When Molly arrived, Vera was already there with a roll of tissues. "Susan, dry your feet and put on your shoes. Your grandpa and I already bought fish for you. Don't go into the water again."noveldrama

Molly pushed Randall aside and took the guilty Susan by the hand. "Susan, it's okay. Don't listen to Randall. If you want to play in the water, I'll go with you after I eat. Don't go alone, or I'll worry."

After drying her feet and putting on her shoes, Susan was led away.

Patrick and Sebastian, who Susan was a bit afraid of, received warning looks from their wives not to ask about what had just happened.

Teddy was napping on a soft mat, with Patrick gently fanning him. Vera took over, freeing Patrick.

Susan went over and took Sebastian's spot as the "head chef."

"Aunt Molly, can I have some of the cherries I picked this morning?"

"What for?"

And Randall has lemons in his trunk. Can you get me one?" Shawn refused to let Susan use the lemon. "No lemon juice. Just grill it as it is."

In the end, they only gave Susan the cherries, and she created her own grilling recipe. Soon, the fish they bought was ready.

Randall leaned against a tree, occasionally glancing at Susan in silence.

After grilling the meat, Susan walked over to Randall and offered it to him. "Randall,

I'm sorry. I won't go into the water again. Please don't be mad."

Randall replied, "You eat the lamb skewers. I'll have the fish."

Susan's face lit up at his words. "Randall, I'll grill the fish for you right away."

On the mat, Teddy had a dream where he couldn't learn a skill and got his hand

slapped. He pouted and cried in his sleep.

Teddy's temper flared, and he woke up crying.

Vera had to get up and soothe the crying Teddy.

Cindy, who was at home, was worried about everyone playing outside. She called her

family at noon and heard Teddy crying over the phone.

Cindy's heart melted at the sound. "Teddy, let's video chat. Don't cry."

When the video call connected, Teddy's tear-streaked face appeared on the screen.

Cindy and her friends were having lunch. Seeing Teddy's crying face, her friends, who had heard Cindy brag about Teddy's cuteness, were curious to see just how adorable he was.
