Chapter 696 The More You Coax, The Angrier She Gets
Shawn glanced at Molly, who was also eyeing Sebastian. "When did you start meeting people behind my back?" A wife always got an eye on her husband's social circle.
"An old guy reported a crime. Poor dude got scammed out of his money and came to me for help."
"Did he get his money back?"
Sebastian nodded, wrapping his arm around Molly's waist and looking down at her. He only needed to lean in a bit to kiss her, but at the Olteran Manor, he held back. "When I step in, I always get results."
Molly laughed. "Then I'll go too." It'd be embarrassing to pick cherries at someone's place if the money hadn't been recovered.
Susan also wanted to go, but she directed her words at Randall. "Randall, I want to eat fresh cherries."
"Store-bought ones aren't fresh?"
"Store-bought ones are picked by others, not fresh. I want to eat them straight from the tree."
Randall teased, "Why don't you just hug the tree and eat them directly? That would be even fresher."
Susan got angry and stood up, moving away from Randall to sit next to Vera.
Cindy pointed at Randall in frustration. "If Susan were my daughter, you'd never be my son-in-law."
Randall awkwardly rubbed his nose.
After a while, Sebastian got up to leave. "Dad, I'll come pick you and Molly up tomorrow."
He had taken a nap in the afternoon and regained most of his energy.
Molly asked, "Where are you going? It's almost time for dinner."
Shawn's eyes widened in curiosity, darting between Molly and Sebastian. Had they made up? Was Molly asking Sebastian to stay?
The living room fell silent, everyone momentarily forgetting to react.
Later, Molly gave Vera a knowing look. Despite their arguments, Vera was always reliable in crucial moments.
Vera immediately picked up on the signal. She stood up with Teddy to smooth things over. "Sebastian, why don't you stay? We're all going out together tomorrow anyway." She walked over and handed Teddy to Sebastian. "Teddy, go to Sebastian. He's staying tonight, and you can sleep with Molly and Sebastian."
"No way, I need my sleep. Your son likes to stay up late. If I sleep, he'll be up all night, and Sebastian will have to take care of him alone," Molly said bluntly.
Vera replied, "Well, consider it practice for fatherhood."noveldrama
After speaking, the two women exchanged glances.
Since Molly had asked Vera for help earlier, she held back the retort she wanted to make.
Sebastian looked at Molly on the sofa and smiled. He hugged Teddy. "It's fine. I got enough sleep today. I'll play with Teddy tonight."
Molly muttered softly, "You have no idea what you're in for. Teddy will keep you up all night until you're bald."

Later, Vera tossed Teddy into the living room and pulled Molly outside, grinning mischievously. "Molly, what's going on? Just because Sebastian is taking you to the orchard tomorrow, you're suddenly nice to him?"
Molly explained, "No, Vera, you don't understand. If I don't ask Sebastian to stay tonight, he'll go back to the station for the night shift. When I'm not home, he hardly ever comes home." Molly was worried about Sebastian's health, so she asked him to stay.
Vera said, "I thought you realized you love Sebastian."
"That doesn't need realization."
"Then why were you so mad for days, giving him a hard time every day?"
Molly asked Vera, "Didn't you notice how free I've been this week without a man around?"
Vera was speechless.
"Molly, let me give you some advice from experience. I was angry because Sebastian was overwhelming me. He wanted everything from me, and I remembered how he used to pressure me into doing things. I felt I needed to show him I wouldn't tolerate it anymore. If I kept giving in, he'd eventually force me to say 'I love you,' and then he'd push me to have kids. A man's ambition is endless. If he gets marriage and security, and then forces love, what's next? I'd be stuck, always under his control."
Vera listened carefully, realizing Molly had a point. "You're right. You two didn't have a chance to build a foundation before marriage, and you haven't had time to adjust as a couple. Patrick and I at least had some time to get used to each other before committing."
Molly said firmly, "To maintain your position, you have to show a man you're not easy to push around. I've been angry these days, and Sebastian has been respectful. He knows my limits now and won't cross them. So, girls need to get angry sometimes, but it has to be principled anger, not random tantrums. Look at Sebastian; he's been polite
to me, even tried to cuddle during a nap, but I slapped him away."
Vera's eyes wandered, deep in thought. Vera said, "You slapped him, and then what?" "Nothing. I told him to sleep, and he obediently closed his eyes."

Vera rested her chin on her hand, her eyes shifting. Molly continued, "Sebastian doesn't dare to bully me anymore or manipulate me. My life is much more comfortable now. So, Vera, to keep your position, you need to have a temper. It will give you peace of mind and elevate your status."
Dinner time arrived, and Patrick, holding the chubby Teddy with one hand, pushed open the back door to the living room, seeing Molly and Vera sitting on the lawn. "Come back for dinner."
The two women exchanged a glance, and Molly raised an eyebrow at Vera. "I've given you the secret. It's up to you how you use it."
Vera walked over to her husband, took the child from him, and stole several glances at Patrick. Patrick noticed but said nothing.
In the living room, Randall was teasing Susan again.
"Are you mad? What's there to be mad about? How about I take you to pick cherries tomorrow?"
"Randall, you're not gentle at all."
Randall replied, "Why should a man be gentle? Like a sissy?"
Susan got even angrier. "I'm not talking to you anymore."
As she prepared to leave, Randall grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. "Then tell me,
how should a man be gentle?"
Sebastian watched and laughed. Molly came over. "Sebastian, what's going on with Randall?"
Mr. Chase summarized, "Randall's trying to cheer Susan up, but he's only making her angrier."
