Shrouded Affections Winning Back My CEO Wife

Chapter 1066

Chapter 1066:

“Eileen,” Keith said, his face showing relief. “Thank you for coming.”

“I should be the one thanking you. My mother has been gone for a long time, and you’ve visited her frequently. This might be your last time visiting her grave, so please take care of your family more in the future,” Eileen said, closing the car door and approaching him.

The mention of his family made Keith’s expression darken. “Let’s go inside,” he said.

There were guards standing at the entrance. They only allowed Eileen and Keith in after verifying their identities.

Dottie’s tomb was newly constructed, featuring a clear photo.

In the photo, she appeared gentle, smiling with dimples and a twinkle in her eyes.

The photo showed Dottie at twenty, her eyes sparkling with life. Leyla had chosen this photo because, by the time Dottie passed away, she was frail, and her face had lost its color. Since Eileen was missing, Dottie’s condition had deteriorated so much that no photos were taken of her during those final days.

“I took this photo for your mother,” Keith said as he set the flowers aside and then pulled out a selection of Alverton’s special desserts from the basket.

He sighed deeply, standing there as he stared at the photo of Dottie for a long while.

Eileen placed her flowers next to his and stood beside Keith. It was the first time the three of them were alone together, and the quietness felt heavy.

“Actually, I was the one who wronged your mother,” Keith said as he sat down next to the grave, adjusting his glasses. “Back then, marrying Harrell’s mother promised more advantages. You and I had a petty argument, and when she suggested breaking up, I agreed.”

It was difficult to gauge from his words whether he felt regret or pity. The gravity of what he was saying left Eileen feeling downcast.

He shared many details about his past with Dottie, as if trying to purge those memories from his mind. It also seemed like he was relishing each memory.

“It’s getting late, and you need to head back tomorrow. We should go now,” Keith said as he stood up, his smile tinged with bitterness. “Do you think it’s rude of me to share all that with you?”

“Not at all. I consider it an honor to be the one you told these things to,” Eileen replied, shaking her head. Keith gave her a smile and allowed her to lead as they left the cemetery together.

“By the way, there’s a log cabin over there,” Keith said, pointing to a structure a little distance from the cemetery. “It was your mother’s favorite spot, but it’s going to be demolished in a few days. You might want to visit it now, or you’ll never be able to see it again.” In the vast, open plain, the log cabin stood out with its colorful exterior.

Eileen nodded in agreement. “Sure. Should we go there together?”

“No, I have other matters to attend to. You can head over there now,” Keith said with a smile. Then, he got into his car and drove off.

Once Keith’s car was out of sight, Eileen got into her own car and drove toward the log cabin.

The log cabin served as a lounge for herdsmen. Donated by someone, it bore the VQ Group logo.

It must have been built by Dottie. The exterior was regularly repainted in bright, vibrant colors to keep it looking fresh.
