Chapter 86 The Situation is Chaotic
The knocking on the box stopped, and it didn't start up again.
To Michael, there were only two possibilities here. First, the ghost got tired of knocking, which was obviously impossible.

The second possibility? The headless ghost inside the box had been let loose.
Right then, the dark room went silent.
Unlike before, this silence dragged on, way longer than any other time.

And the coughing sound? It never came back.
Michael wasn't sure if this was a big clue or not.
'The ghost stopped moving, and the headless ghost hasn't shown up. Why is everything so weird?' he thought.
Michael had braced himself to die here, but now...
He felt like he might actually make it. His paralysis was almost over.
The demon's eye inside him started to chill out, and he could feel his body again.

As long as he could move, he wasn't scared, even if he had to face the headless ghost.
Maybe the ghost knew Michael was about to get his mobility back, or maybe it was just time.
Footsteps started again. The ghost moved away from the wardrobe, heading to the doorway, then walked out of the room and slowly went down the stairs, each step echoing in the hallway. It was leaving.
Almost the moment it went downstairs, Michael could move again.
He took control of his body, jumped out of bed, and reached for the wall, quickly flipping on the light.
The room lit up, chasing away the darkness.
But thanks to the toughness of the gold and Ethan not cutting corners when making the box, it didn't break open.
Seeing this, Michael let out a small sigh of relief.
The best outcome had happened; the box wasn't open, and the headless ghost hadn't escaped. The box being deformed didn't matter; it was just a container.
But weirdly, a piece of human skin was covering the box.
It was the human skin paper he had brought from school.
Michael was puzzled, but now wasn't the time to think about it.
He quickly packed his stuff, hid his luggage, grabbed a weapon, and rushed out.
'This is both a crisis and a chance for me. At least the ghost showed up. Even if I don't deal with it, I need to know its identity, its location, and what it looks like.'
'If I let it go now, I might never get such a good chance again,' Michael thought.
Despite his fear and unease, Michael chased after the ghost. He had come to Stormcrest Village to fight for a chance to survive. If he was scared of death, he wouldn't have come here.
The front door on the first floor was tightly closed.
But outside, there were footsteps moving away.
Clearly, the ghost had left Emilio's house and was heading somewhere else.
Michael opened the door and ran out. The Demon's Eye on his forehead pushed through the skin, revealing a blood-red eye that gave him a unique vision.
It was a world bathed in red light, with no darkness around.
The demon's eye could see through darkness and the illusions of Ghost Realms. Even though it was useless without using the Ghost Realm, it was still a special ability. "Up ahead," Michael noticed the ghost.
He chased after it, the demon's eye trying to see the ghost's appearance.

But a turn blocked his view, and the footsteps echoed from the alley.
'Using the Ghost Realm would catch up to the ghost instantly, but using it without understanding the ghost is obviously very foolish,' he thought.
Even though Michael was dying to know what the ghost looked like, the risks of using the Ghost Realm made him hold back.
After all, he probably couldn't handle it though he used his Ghost Realm.
Michael kept chasing. The footsteps ahead were getting closer and closer.
Just around the next corner, he'd be able to see.
But when Michael turned the corner, he froze.
The person in front of him wasn't a ghost at all-it was Tom, a member of the Enigma Elite Club who had come to Stormcrest Village with him earlier that day. "Michael? What are you doing here?" Tom looked just as shocked and spoke up first. "That's what I should be asking. I followed the footsteps of a ghost here, and when I turned the corner, I saw you. Are you really Tom?" Michael frowned, holding a golden handgun.
The bullet was already chambered. Michael wasn't aiming to kill, just instinctively defending himself.
Tom, looking a bit exasperated, said, "Of course I'm Tom. You're the one acting weird. I was also following those footsteps, thinking you were the ghost. Luckily, I saw your face and it scared me."
Hearing this, Michael was stunned, "Were we being played with? Or are there more than one ghost here? The one you were following isn't the one I encountered."
"Not sure, but the footsteps did disappear around here," Tom said, his face serious. Suddenly, a footstep came from a nearby alley.
Without thinking, Michael grew an eye on his forehead and fired a shot in the direction of the sound.
A cry of pain echoed, and his demon's eye saw someone fall to the ground, blood flowing from their body.
"Michael, why did you shoot randomly? You hit someone," Tom exclaimed.
Michael frowned, "The villagers have been asleep for a long time, and even the dogs aren't barking this late. Who knows if the sudden footsteps are from a ghost? Better to shoot first."
"It's good that you saw me first, or you would have shot me," Tom said, clearly shaken. Only then did he notice that Michael had been holding a handgun the whole time. "That person seems to be from the club. You should recognize him, but I don't know if that shot killed him," Michael said.
A moment later, in a small villa temporarily rented by the club, a man named Jaxon Montague, pale-faced and bleeding from a wound, was being bandaged by Tom. Besides them, other Ghost Handlers were also present.
The ghostly disturbance at night seemed to have alarmed everyone. "Jaxon, I have some bad news for you. Your genitals were shot off by the bullet," Tom said with a sympathetic look, "I suspect Michael aimed for your genitals on purpose." Michael glanced over, "I was clearly aiming for his head. But this is indeed my fault. Jaxon, I need to apologize to you. I'm sorry."
As he spoke, he showed a sincere and apologetic expression.
Jaxon's cold face was filled with rage, "You shot me, and a simple 'sorry' is supposed to make up for it?"noveldrama
"I've already apologized. What more do you want? Call the cops on me?" Michael said, "It's late at night, and the village is haunted. You were wandering around without a light. It's normal to get accidentally shot."
"You shot me, and that's supposed to be it? How about I shoot you back?" Jaxon, with
a livid face, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him.
Jaxon fired without hesitation, aiming at Michael's head.
But instead of the head exploding as Jaxon imagined, Michael tilted his head in
advance, dodging the bullet.
"Now, are we even?" Michael's demon's eye on his forehead stared at him.
"We're even when I say we are," Jaxon said, trying to fire again.
But this time, Michael also pointed his gun at Jaxon's head, "A shot for a shot, very fair.
If you want to continue, I can do it with you all night and see who dies first."
"Alright, that's enough. Jaxon, you fired a shot, so it's even. If we keep this up, we'll end up fighting. There's still a ghost in the village. Fighting among ourselves now is asking for death. Besides, you're fine. Once you control another ghost, any injury can be healed." Tom quickly pulled Jaxon back, trying to mediate.
