True Love Deserves a Second Chance

Chapter 449 Elodie

Alexander's spine stiffened when he saw the photo. His hand holding the photo involuntarily trembled.

His eyes were filled with disbelief.

He had heard from Remy that Elodie looked a lot like Daisy, but in his mind, they were only somewhat similar.

He never thought they could look so alike, almost like the same person.

He raised his eyes to look at Sophia. "Is this the urgent matter you mentioned on the phone?"

Sophia nodded. "Don't you think they look too much alike? If they weren't twins, I would find this very strange."

"They do look very similar, but I'm sure my mom only gave birth to one child back then."

"Then haven't you considered another possibility?"noveldrama

Sophia's words made Alexander's eyes suddenly freeze.

His heart also tightened at that moment.

He stared at Sophia for a few seconds, then asked, "Are you suspecting they were switched?"

"Isn't that possible? Joyce just called me and said that it's true Elodie was won by Cameron in a gamble, but the person who lost Elodie to him wasn't her biological father.

He bought Elodie from human traffickers, and later, when his wife got pregnant, he didn't want the child anymore, so he used her to pay off his gambling debt to Cameron."

Hearing these words, every nerve in Alexander's body tensed up.

Human traffickers.

Wasn't his sister kidnapped by human traffickers back then?

Could Elodie actually be his sister?

Thinking of this possibility, Alexander's fingertips couldn't help but tremble slightly, and his voice became hoarse.

"When Daisy was identified back then, I was studying abroad, and I only heard about some things, but I wasn't clear on the specifics."

Sophia saw that his voice was shaking.

She immediately grabbed his hand and said, "Alexander, don't you think Elodie now looks more like your sister when she was a child? Especially her kind nature. I don't believe that such a kind child would grow up to be as cruel as Daisy.

I think you need to re-investigate this matter, and Daisy probably already knows. She saw this photo yesterday.

I'm worried she might harm Elodie. If that's the case, you'll regret it too late."

At the critical moment, Sophia remained rational.

Her words instantly brought Alexander back to his senses.

His eyes were bloodshot as he looked at Sophia. "I'll go do a DNA test with Elodie right away."

Sophia immediately stopped him. "To avoid drawing attention, I'll handle this. You focus on preparing for Elodie's surgery."

Alexander nervously hugged Sophia.

His voice was filled with indescribable pain. "Sophie, I'm very excited but also very scared. I'm excited that Elodie might be my sister, but I'm scared that I haven't found her all these years and let her suffer so much."

Sophia gently patted Alexander's back. "You focus on preparing for the surgery. The reason you became a cardiologist was to treat your sister, right? If Elodie is really your sister, I think she won't blame you. She'll be very happy instead."

"Really? I'm so afraid she won't acknowledge me. After all, it was my fault she got lost and suffered so much."

"Stop talking and go prepare for the surgery. I'll go collect the samples. We'll act separately."

Alexander lifted his head, looking deeply at Sophia, his voice gentle. "Sophie, if my sister isn't Daisy, can we be together?"

"That's a matter for later. Let's act quickly."

Sophia pushed Alexander into the conference room and went home alone.

To be thorough, she needed to get Philip's biological sample. A paternity test would be the most convincing.

She called Gordon. "Dad, did you invite Mr. Cross to our house for dinner?"

Gordon. "Yes, why?"

"I happen to be free today. I'll have lunch at home and chat with you all."

Hearing this, Gordon laughed. "You're not mad at Philip anymore?"

"Why would I be mad at him? He didn't do anything wrong. I'll be home in twenty minutes."

Twenty minutes later.

Sophia walked into the living room and saw Philip and Dean playing chess.

She walked over with a smile and softly called out, "Mr. Cross."

Philip saw her and immediately put down his chess piece, waving her over. "Sophia, I have a gift for you."

He took out a delicate little box from his bag and handed it to Sophia. "This is from Alexander's mom, Tessa. She said you'd love it."

Sophia opened the box and saw a pair of blue diamond earrings.

They were exactly the style she liked.

She smiled happily. "I'll thank her properly later. I really like them."

Seeing her accept the gift, Philip smiled and said, "Tessa likes you a lot. She always wanted you to join the Cross Group, but you started your own studio. If you need any help, just let her know. She has a lot of connections in this circle."

"I know, thank you, Mr. Cross."

She put away the gift and saw that Philip's tea had gone cold. She immediately took his teacup and said, "Mr. Cross, I'll pour out this tea and make you a fresh cup."

Philip didn't mind and was very happy. "Sure, I've heard from your grandpa that your tea-making skills are excellent. I'm lucky to taste it today."

Sophia took Philip's teacup into the kitchen, put it in a bag, and hid it.

Then she took a new cup and started making tea.

In the afternoon, she took samples from Philip and Elodie to a private DNA testing center and requested expedited processing.

Elodie was sitting alone on the hospital bed, drawing. A nurse came in to give her medication and was surprised to see the drawing. "Elodie, is this a drawing of Mr. Cross? It looks just like him."

Elodie smiled. "Do you want one? After my surgery, I'll draw one for you too."

"Really? That would be great. I'll keep it well. When you become a famous artist, this drawing will be worth a lot."

"I'm not that good. I just like to draw."

The nurse looked around the room and didn't see Remy, so she asked, "Isn't your mom here?"

Elodie continued sketching and replied, "I said I wanted a burger from the hospital entrance, so she went to get it for me."

"That burger is really good. We often go there. Alright, I won't disturb you. Rest well, and I'll come back later."

"Okay, goodbye."

The nurse left the room.

Elodie was about to continue drawing when her phone suddenly rang.

Seeing it was Remy's call, she immediately answered.

But a man's voice came from the other end. "Elodie, your mom and I are at the burger

place at the entrance. Come out, we haven't had a family gathering in a long time."

Hearing this voice, Elodie's heart instinctively tightened.

She knew Cameron wasn't so kind; he must be up to something.

Her expression turned cold. "What do you want? Don't touch my mom."

Cameron laughed. "You're quick-witted. I just need money. Bring me some money, or

I'll stab your mom."

"Don't you dare touch her. I'll come right away."

"I know you've been trying to catch me. If you dare call the police or tell anyone, I'll

send your mom to meet the Grim Reaper."

Elodie trembled with fear. "Okay, I'll come alone. Don't touch my mom."
