Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 1005

Chapter 1005:

“Good,” Eric said.

He pulled out his phone, took her left hand—the one with the ring—and laced his fingers through hers. Then he snapped a photo of their joined hands.

Opening his Twitter app, he typed quickly.

Eric rarely used social media himself either. But as the head of Flynn Group, which owned East Entertainment Media, there were times he had to.

After posting, he glanced at her. “Open your Twitter and give me your phone.”

Hadley frowned, unsure of what he was planning now, but too exhausted to resist.

She handed him her phone without a word.

“I’m going to the bathroom,” she murmured, getting up.

She went to the ladies’ room, shut the door behind her, turned on the faucet, and stared into the mirror.

“Joy, Joy…” she whispered, her voice cracking.

Tears welled again. Her life had never been her own.

Always discarded, always coerced.

Outside, just beyond the door, Eric stood still. He had raised his hand to knock—but hearing her sobbing behind the sound of running water, he lowered it slowly.

A minute later, two tweets exploded across the internet, shooting to the top of the trending list and briefly crashing the server.

@EricFlynn: My dear fiancée. @HadleyPearson.

@HadleyPearson: My beloved fiancée. @EricFlynn.

The accompanying photo showed two hands tightly entwined—his large, steady one, and hers, pale and slender, adorned with a brilliant red diamond ring.

Eric drove Hadley to work. As she stepped out of the car, her eyes were still faintly red and swollen.

Without hesitation, he walked her in, boldly holding her hand for everyone to see.

By now, Twitter was in chaos, and naturally, the crew was fully aware of the news. As the two entered hand-in-hand, glances were exchanged, whispers spreading like wildfire.

“Is that Hadley? She’s really landed on her feet.”

“Should we start calling her Mrs. Flynn now? He made it official himself, after all.”

“Sometimes, marrying well gets you farther than working hard ever could.”

Hadley could feel the weight of their stares. Uncomfortable, she tried to pull her hand from Eric’s grip.

“We’re here,” she said quietly.

“I know.” Eric let her go at last. “I’ll pick you up tonight.”

He had plenty of free time these days, and he fully intended to use it.

Hadley gave a slight nod, then turned to head inside.

“Hadley!”

Ayla rushed up with a bright smile, grabbing her arm and gesturing toward the entrance. “Mr. Flynn drove you himself? Really?”

Hadley lifted her eyes slightly. “Yes.”

“That’s amazing!” Ayla pouted dramatically, full of mock envy. “Do you know your tweets crashed the server? You haven’t even officially debuted yet, and you’re already famous! Our show’s riding the wave too. We’re trending all over!”

Hadley barely reacted. The attention, the chaos—it all felt meaningless. Before Ayla could continue, a member of the makeup team approached with a polite smile.

“Hadley, you’re here. Can we start your makeup?”
