Chapter 687 Just a Delivery Man
Mason stared at the message Wesley had sent him. He recognized every word individually, but when put together like that, he couldn't comprehend them.
The RV was already making its way back along the way they came. Natalie and Marcus had come out for a honeymoon, but instead of having fun, they ended up handling serious business.
That was why, on the way there, Timothy had suggested that they avoid the highway on the return trip. Instead, he had planned out a scenic route for them to enjoy the sights and relax on the way back.
Coincidentally, now that Natalie was pregnant, she wasn't suited for long car rides. Timothy's planned route turned out to be perfect.
Now, with both his mother and Marcus' parents requesting Natalie to be sent to their respective residences, Mason couldn't make the decision.
Seeing that Mason hadn't replied, Wesley sent another message. "Mason, did you receive my message?"
Mason let out a deep breath. He quickly took a screenshot of the conversation and sent it to Timothy.
Mason: "Timothy, what should I do?"
Timothy: "Delete the message and do not reply. If Wesley calls you, just say you didn't receive anything. Blame it on the app."
Mason: "Alright. Thanks, Timothy."
Mason immediately deleted Wesley's messages. That was right. If he hadn't received anything, there was no need for a reply.
Seeing that Mason still hadn't replied, Wesley sent another message shortly after. Mason deleted it immediately again.
This back-and-forth went on for about half an hour before Wesley finally called.
Worried that it would affect Natalie's nap, Mason had already put his phone on silent. When he stared at the incoming call, he hesitated for a moment before answering.
However, he still kept his voice low. "Hello, Mr. Holden."
"Mason, did you see the messages I sent you?" Wesley's voice was calm, without a hint of anger."
"Your messages? I didn't receive anything. I think the signal isn't that great here. Maybe there's something wrong with WhatsApp," Mason replied steadily. "Is there something I can help you with?"
"It's nothing urgent. I just wanted to ask you and Timothy to send Nat to Holden Residence. We prepared gifts for her, so we would like her to get them as soon as possible," Wesley said gently.
"Alright. I'll let Nat know," Mason whispered. "But Mr. Holden, we won't be getting back so soon. Timothy had planned out a scenic route, so we're taking our time."
"That's fine. Enjoy yourselves before coming back. Just remember to send Natalie here as soon as you get back."
"Alright. Is there anything else?"
"No, that's all."
"If that's the case, I'll hang up first. Nat and Marcus are both sleeping. I don't want to disturb them."
"Alright. Thank you, Mason."
"You're welcome, Mr. Holden. Goodbye."
"Okay. Goodbye, Mason."
As soon as Mason ended the call, he saw that Marcus, who had been resting with
his eyes closed, had opened them."
Marcus sat up and asked, "Did my father call you?"
'Yes. Did I wake you?" Mason felt bad. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."
"Don't worry," Marcus replied. "You didn't wake me up. I couldn't fall asleep. Why don't you take a nap?"
Mason shook his head. "No need.
I'm feeling pretty good. By the way, Timothy mapped out a scenic route for us to take on the way back. He wants to make sure you and Natalie get a chance to have some fun. Do you have any opinions or suggestions?"
The corner of Marcus' lips lifted slightly. "I don't. I'll just follow whatever you and Timothy planned."
Just as Mason was about to speak, his phone buzzed once more. This time, it was from Charlotte.
"Marcus, let me take this call."
"Okay." Marcus got up and walked into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of iced tea. He twisted the cap off and took a sip.
From where he stood, he could see Mason talking cautiously. He couldn't tell what was being said, but he could see Mason nodding
repeatedly, promising over anl.ne
again to send Natalie home as soon as possible.
Marcus couldn't help but smirk. Without thinking much, he figured the parents
from both sides were already starting to fight over Natalie.
Now that she was pregnant, the
child would be the first grandchild of
both the Walker and Holden
families. Once the baby was born,
Marcus couldn't even imagine how
spoiled the little one would become.
As for himself, even though he was the biological father, he was afraid he wouldn't
even get a chance to spoil the child.noveldrama
The thought left a bitter taste in Marcus' mouth. He was starting to feel like nothing more than a delivery man. Once the "package" was delivered, his job would be done.
Worse yet, he'd probably be kicked aside by the grandparents from both families. Just picturing that made Marcus shiver. He had a feeling he was about to become the most irrelevant father in history.
After a while, Mason finally ended the call. After that, he wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and let out a deep exhale.
"How scary. Nat has just gotten pregnant, and both sides of the family are already gearing up for war," Mason muttered to himself. "Would the parents turn into enemies once the baby is born?"
"It's highly likely, " Marcus said with a smile as he walked over. "This child will surely be the most spoiled person in both families. But all I care about is that Natalie stays safe and healthy."
"Of course! Nat will surely be fine and healthy. The Holdens and the Walkers both have the best medical resources available. My mom's already arranged everything.
"Nat will surely be taken care of throughout her pregnancy. She'll be healthy and happy. Then, she will deliver the baby safely."
"Yes." Marcus' gaze softened. "Mason, let's start thinking of baby names." "Forget it." Mason let out a sigh. "Marcus, my parents have already come up with
a long list of names. They're just waiting for you to pick one. Whatever you come up with probably won't get used."
Marcus was speechless.
But honestly, Mason wasn't wrong. Not only would Natalie's parents want to name
the baby, but his own parents would definitely want that too.
With that, it pretty much confirmed that he was just a delivery man.
But the thought of how this baby was already surrounded by so much love even before being born softened his heart.
When he was young, his parents weren't around. Even though Charles had given him all the love and affection of a grandfather, he still envied having love from his
parents.
Now that he was about to become a father himself, he swore he would never let his child experience even the slightest regret or envy.
