The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 377

Rachel couldn't believe Matthew would say something so shameless. When he mentioned "cool down", she knew he was referring to intimate matters. Even though they had broken up, she was taken aback that he still had lustful thoughts. Yet, a part of her was tempted.

But she quickly pushed those feelings aside. She knew that letting her guard down could jeopardize not only her family but also Matthew's.

She gritted her teeth and said coldly, "If you keep talking nonsense, don't blame me for being rude."

He smiled. "What do you mean by 'talking nonsense'? Your lips are chapped. You must be stressed. I could give you a prescription that would fix that." Rachel's eyes widened in realization. So, Matthew wasn't making advances; she'd misunderstood him.

Her face flushed with frustration. "Mind your own business. Just leave and don't come back."

He raised an eyebrow. "You're the one who called and begged me to come."

Her eyes twitched when she realized she had let that slip in her rage. "Fine. Just go." With that said, she turned around and left.

Rachel didn't dare to look at Matthew, fearing she would become emotionally overwhelmed and reveal her true feelings.noveldrama

Matthew stepped forward and blocked her path. "Don't go. I still have important matters to discuss."

His earlier attempts were just aimed at trying to read her subtle expressions for clues, but he'd come up empty. Now, he was ready to get down to business.

She said with a cold expression, "We've broken up. Can you please stop bothering me?"

Matthew's expression darkened, and there was a trace of sadness in his eyes. He cleared his throat and said, "Don't try to cover it up. I know Isaac is putting pressure on you, right?" Rachel's mind raced. If he had evidence, he wouldn't be asking. She realized he was just guessing, and she had almost fallen for his ploy.

She maintained her icy demeanor and said, "Don't overthink it. It's not like that. I just don't have feelings for you anymore."

Matthew continued, "Isaac told Lambda City's deputy mayor, Levi Lancaster, to target me. That's what I found out from Levi."

Rachel was taken aback and enraged. Isaac had promised he wouldn't go after Matthew or the Carters, yet he had gone back on his word. She ignored Matthew and stormed into the building. She needed to call Isaac and demand an explanation.

Matthew couldn't read much from Rachel's expression. When she walked away, he quickly followed. "Hey, don't go. We're not done talking."

She snorted. "I'm not in the mood to talk with you," she said before striding into the building.

He stopped at the entrance and hesitated, unsure of whether or not to follow her inside.

Two security guards recognized Matthew and exchanged worried glances. "Mr. Grant, please don't make things difficult for us." They had seen him in action and knew they were no match for him.

Upon seeing them back off, Matthew waved dismissively. "Fine. I'll leave."

Since Rachel didn't want to talk to him, he decided not to press further. After all, it was just his guess.

As for Levi targeting him, Matthew

knew he had offended too many people the Smiths, the Hobbeses, the Red Wolves, and so on. He figured any of them could be behind

it.

When Rachel stepped into her office, she slammed the door shut. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed the number she had hoped never to call.

"Isaac, what's going on? We agreed

that you wouldn't go after the Grants or my family if I got engaged to you. Why did you have someone to target Matthew?"
