Chapter 560 Each Harbors Ghostly Intentions
The sky gradually darkened as nightfall slowly descended, and stars began to dot the deep expanse above.
The night was like silk, draping over Emerald City, with streetlights flickering on one by one, casting mottled shadows.
The dazzling lights and twinkling stars intertwined, cloaking Emerald City's night in a captivating glow.
Meanwhile, Candice and Patrick were having the time of their lives at the amusement park, their laughter echoing in the night air. The carousel lights sparkled, reflecting their excitement.
"I can't believe you rode the roller coaster! You've got some guts!" Candice exclaimed, her joy making her forget the real reason she came here today.
Patrick was happy to see Candice so relaxed, a rare sight indeed. "What's the big deal? You're underestimating me!" He replied, trying to sound confident.
Candice's laughter grew even more vibrant, and the two of them became one with the night.
But only Patrick knew that his heart was racing and his body was trembling. He had always been terrified of heights, but he forced himself to go along for Candice's sake.
Even when they got home, Candice couldn't bring herself to tell Patrick the truth. She wanted to, but seeing his joyful expression, she swallowed her words. The night was late, and their laughter blended into the city's hustle and bustle.
But while some were happy, others were troubled.
Tom left Emerald Lake Manor feeling utterly frustrated. He hadn't expected Emily to be so clever, almost outsmarting him. She had skillfully maneuvered their conversation, leaving Tom with no openings.
'I really underestimated her! Hayden is much easier to deal with. I guess I'll have to go to the Brown Villa again.' Tom thought to himself, his steps quickening as the night wind lifted his coat.
He pulled out his phone, intending to call Hayden to arrange a meeting for the next day. But after several attempts, there was no response.
Frustration bubbled up inside Tom, and he cursed under his breath. "Damn Hayden! No wonder he has a daughter like Emily. They're both so cunning, trying to avoid me!"
Tom angrily hung up and decided it was best not to pursue it further tonight, heading home instead. Little did he know, Hayden was also in a state of anxiety, pacing in the lobby of the Smith Corporation, waiting to meet with Veda, the vice president, to discuss the next steps of their project.noveldrama

Hayden was still hopeful about collaborating with the Smith Corporation, unaware that it was all a trap set by Mason of the Smith family. He believed that securing this partnership was the only way to fend off Tom and prepare for rebuilding the Brown Corporation.
But despite his urgency, Hayden couldn't get a meeting with Veda, repeatedly being told by the receptionist, "I'm sorry, sir, Ms. Smith is in a meeting."
"A meeting this late?" Hayden's anxiety grew, but he had no choice but to keep pacing and waiting for the meeting to end. As the night wore on, Hayden's impatience led him to continuously call Veda's phone.
This put Veda, who was waiting in Michael's office, in a difficult position. "Michael, he's calling again!" Veda said softly, glancing at her vibrating phone. She had plans with Daniel tonight and didn't want to miss his call.
Michael, busy with his work, looked up and shook his head. "Can't he wait a bit? My sister is dating him, and he thinks he can get whatever he wants. That's not right." "Michael!" Veda protested, stomping her foot and pouting. Michael didn't want Veda to meet Hayden, knowing how slick and troublesome he could be. But seeing Veda's urgency, he reluctantly nodded. "Alright, go deal with him, but don't spend too much time. And be careful with what you say. Hayden can be reckless when he wants something, and I don't want you to get hurt, understand?"
Veda felt a warm rush of affection. She realized that her relationship with Michael had grown closer, far better than their previous superficial bond. This made her reconsider her feelings towards Emily, whom she had blamed for her strained relationship with Michael.

"Okay, I understand, Michael," Veda nodded, eager to leave for her date. She left the office quickly.
Hayden finally saw Veda and rushed forward, his palms sweaty with anticipation. "Ms. Smith, I've been waiting for you!"
Veda raised an eyebrow, feeling a mix of satisfaction and annoyance. "Mr. Brown, I'm very busy. What brings you here so late?"
"Ms. Smith, I need to finalize the investment tonight!" Hayden pleaded. Investment? What investment? Hayden was delusional, thinking he could partner with the Smith Corporation. The supposed collaboration was just a ploy by her grandfather, and Hayden had fallen for it.
Veda couldn't help but smirk, but she maintained her composure. "We can discuss that tomorrow. Tonight isn't convenient."
With that, Veda turned to leave. Hayden, desperate, stepped forward to block her path, trying to be polite but insistent. "Ms. Smith, I really need to settle this tonight!"
Veda's patience wore thin, and she shot him a look of irritation.
