Chapter 348
Chapter 348:
“Jasmine,” I say, standing so fast I nearly knock over the table. “Are you okay? Do you need anything?” I know I said I wasn’t going to talk, but I’m being forced to… seeing her like this is weird.
She holds up a hand, stopping me in my tracks.
“Relax,” she snaps, her tone sharp. “I’m fine.”
“Fine.”
The word doesn’t reassure me in the slightest, but I don’t push. I study her, trying to figure out what’s going on, but before I can ask, she speaks again.
“Don’t tell me I look tired, or weak, or anything remotely patronizing,” she warns. “I’m not here for that.”
By the goddess. What do women really want? I’ll tell you this—never, ever make a woman mad. You’ll be begging for mercy until your last breath. I repeat, never make the mistake of making a lady vexed.
I raise my hands in surrender, biting back the smile tugging at my lips. There she is—the Jasmine I know, fierce and unrelenting.
“Okay,” I say cautiously. “What are you here for?”
She takes a deep breath, her hand moving instinctively to her stomach. For a second, she hesitates, and my stomach twists into knots.
Then she says it.
“I’m pregnant.”
For a moment, I feel my heart stop beating as I glare at her.
The words hit me like a freight train, and for a moment, I can’t think, can’t breathe, can’t do anything but stare at her. Pregnant.
Jasmine is pregnant.
My brain races, and suddenly, all the thoughts I’ve been trying to shove aside come rushing back. The day I found the pregnancy test on the floor. The excitement I’d felt, the plans I’d started making in my head.
And then the fear and anger that followed when I thought we’d lost the baby.

I’d been so fucking caught up with everything else—Jason, the pack, Anna’s death—that I let this slip through the cracks. I let her slip through the cracks. And now, here she is, standing in front of me, telling me we didn’t lose the baby after all.noveldrama
I’m a fucking idiot.
No wonder she hates me.
“How far along?” I manage to ask, my voice rough.
She pulls out a folded piece of paper, her hands shaking slightly as she reads it out.
“A month,” she says softly.
A month.
My heart pounds as the realization hits me. A month means the baby survived everything. The stress, the danger, the chaos—it didn’t break them.
I didn’t lose my child.
I’m going to be a father.
The happiness that surges through me is so overwhelming, it almost knocks me off my feet.
“Jasmine,” I whisper, stepping closer. “That’s… incredible.”
She narrows her eyes, her walls going up instantly.
“This doesn’t mean everything’s fixed between us,” she warns, her voice sharp.
I nod, swallowing hard. “I know,” I say quietly. “But it’s a start.”
