Chapter 511:

That distant, dismissive glance cut Colton deeper than he expected, leaving a gnawing unrest.
With a neutral expression, he finally pulled out a check and handed it to the waiter. “Bet on Amor.”
“Got it,” the waiter replied, flashing a cheerful smile as he accepted the check.
Meanwhile, Allison finished listening to the dealer lay out the rules. First game: Texas Hold’em.
The dealer shuffled the deck, then dealt two cards each to Allison and Amor, laying down three community cards. Amor picked up a few chips, her fingers dancing with practiced ease, and tossed them into the pot.
“Miss Scarlet Snake, is this your first rodeo?”
“More or less,” Allison replied, her brow slightly furrowed, as though she was still piecing things together. Only after Amor’s comment did she sheepishly match the bet with the same number of chips. Amor chuckled, shaking her head. “You’re brave, I’ll give you that.”
The onlookers exchanged glances, shaking their heads in dismay. They’d hoped the best-of-three format would drag out the suspense, but it looked like Scarlet Snake didn’t even know how to play.
At that moment, Allison glanced at her hand — a four of clubs and an eight of hearts — a terrible hand by any measure. But a faint glint flickered in her eyes.
She thought throwing the game on purpose might be tricky, but fate seemed more than willing to lend a hand.
The dealer asked, “Would you like to call, raise, or fold?”
“I’ll raise,” Amor said confidently, tossing in double the chips.
She gave Allison a look, half amusement, half pity. “Scarlet Snake, you could just fold. It’s a lousy hand, isn’t it?”
The dealer turned to Allison, who hesitated for a moment before lifting her gaze.
“I raise,” Allison said, matching the amount chip for chip.
The dealer remained calm but gently corrected her.
“That’s a call. Raising means adding more to the previous bet.”
Allison nodded. “Then I call.”
The dealer sighed inwardly, silently noting another newcomer in the game. He collected the chips and revealed the community cards: a jack of spades, a six of clubs, and a ten of diamonds.
Amor’s eyes gleamed as she tapped her manicured nails on the table, a sly grin playing on her lips. “Looks like I’ve got this one in the bag.”
Allison’s hesitation became more evident, especially as the dealer flipped over the fourth and fifth cards. Her moves seemed spontaneous, following Amor’s bets without any clear strategy.noveldrama
The crowd watched, bewildered. Nobody had expected Allison to be such a novice. Seeing her advantage, Amor leaned back, leisurely sipping her drink. Victory was a mere formality now.
“Scarlet Snake, I’m dying to see what cards you’re hiding.”
