Reclaiming Her Heart

Chapter 1306 How About We Have a Child?

Selena instinctively wanted to push him away, but remembering it was Raymond, her fingers hesitated mid-air.

Raymond braced his hands on either side of her, watching her face with fascination.

Trapped in this intimate space, Selena felt utterly exposed.

When he said he wanted to see her, he meant thoroughly-examining every inch with meticulous attention.

Selena uncomfortably tried to close her legs, but his kisses were already descending. From top to bottom, he tenderly caressed every inch of her body.

Her entire being trembled with sensation, her neck arching involuntarily. "No... please..." she whispered.

She attempted to push him away, but he had already dropped to one knee before her.

Later, Selena almost regretted her forwardness-especially after being taken on the dining table and then carried to the sofa. Her mind was swimming in a pleasant haze. Only when she realized he was about to withdraw did she suddenly become alert. "Raymond, what if we had a child?"

The moment she spoke, she felt his body tense.

He quickly pulled away, drops of sweat falling from his forehead onto her chest.

"No," he answered firmly, methodically helping her back into her clothes.

"Why not?"

"The timing isn't right. We'll discuss it later."

Until they resolved the situation with the mysterious K and the research facility, he wouldn't risk' putting her through pregnancy. He'd been careful each time, terrified of accidentally subjecting her to more suffering.

"Why isn't the timing right?" Selena asked, then suddenly remembered Barbara.

Once her eyesight returned, she needed to find Barbara-the woman who loved her most in this world.

Indeed, perhaps now wasn't the time for children.

She felt a pang of disappointment.

Raymond embraced her, gently patting her back. "We'll have plenty of opportunities in the future."

Selena smiled slightly. "Alright."

"I'll go clean up those broken pieces in the kitchen before Max and Blizzard step on them."

"Okay."

In the kitchen, Raymond's phone rang-it was Helen.

"Raymond, Jason isn't in Vistalia right now. We've learned he's been investigating BK for years. Wherever information about BK surfaces, he rushes there immediately. This time, reports emerged from a small country, and he's already headed there. He might have more complete information than we do. Since he's already dealing with us, should we propose another exchange to find out exactly what he knows about BK?"

Raymond's face remained impassive as he disposed of the glass fragments.

"The Smith family has no connection to BK. Why would Jason suddenly abandon the family business to investigate this organization? With Tessa's situation, the Smith family must be in chaos. Doesn't his wife have anything to say about this?"

"Our sources indicate Jason and his wife have never had a good relationship. Their apparent affection is just for show."noveldrama

"A bad relationship but three children together?"

Helen laughed incredulously, rubbing her temples. "That's something I can't figure out either."

Regardless, they would have to wait for Jason's return to proceed.

Since Jason was searching for the Smith family's true daughter, Raymond simply needed to help with the search.

He ended the call, feeling somewhat relieved that they were making progress.

Helen immediately sent him a photograph-the Smith family portrait.

She followed with a message: [It's strange-if Jason dislikes his wife, why have children with her? Those kids clearly have the same mother.]

Raymond, having finished cleaning the kitchen, returned to Selena's side.

He glanced at the family portrait, noting that Lawrence and Richard indeed looked similar, while Tessa didn't particularly resemble the family.

Yet Tessa had grown accustomed to luxury, developing the haughty demeanor typical of the wealthy.

Uninterested in studying their family photo further, Raymond tossed his phone aside, coincidentally landing it next to Selena.

He glanced at her, a slight furrow forming between his brows.

Selena felt his phone beside her. "Did you drop your phone?"

He remained silent.

"Were you looking at someone's photo?" she asked.

"The Smith family's."

"The Smith family? What does Mrs. Smith look like?"

If Selena could see, one glance would have revealed everything.

In the family portrait, Cora and Barbara looked identical.

Only their demeanors differed.

Cora in the photograph had a strange quality about her, while the real Barbara possessed genuine resilience and gentleness.

Unfortunately, Selena couldn't see this.

"Nothing special," Raymond said dismissively, turning off his phone screen.
