Mommy,We Got a Husband

Chapter 494: In the Ongoing Cold War

Hearing Alaric say this, Cormac was genuinely surprised.

"I don't want to talk about Tommy. If you have nothing else, get out and don't disturb my work!" Alaric voiced irritably.

"Okay, I'm leaving." Cormac replied. "I'm only here because Rowena is at her yoga class. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother with you."

After Cormac left, Alaric couldn't focus on work either. He grabbed his phone, but it was empty no missed calls, no unread messages.

He threw the phone aside and muttered to himself, 'Alaric, if you apologize first this time, you're a total failure!'

Alaric didn't know how he got through the day, but Stellan had a productive day. Busy at the construction site, time flew by.

She was the future director of this hospital, so staff had set up a temporary office for her on-site. After finishing her tasks, she had just taken a sip of water in her office when a staff member came in to report: "Ms. Storm, there's a Mr. Tommy outside asking for you."

Tommy?

Hearing the name, Stellan was scared. The last time she went to see Tommy, Alaric got so mad at her. How could she dare meet Tommy alone again?

Moreover, when Ambrose tried to escape, wasn't Tommy an accomplice? How come he wasn't caught?

"Just tell him I'm not here."

"Okay, Ms. Storm."

The staff member conveyed Stellan's message to Tommy. After hearing it, Tommy glanced at Stellan's car parked at the site entrance, smirked, and answered, "Got it, thank you."

After Tommy left, the staff member reported back to Stellan, "Ms. Storm, he's gone." "Good, tell him I'm not here if he comes again."

"Got it."

Stellan stayed in her office for a while longer to make sure Tommy had left before she walked out.

But just as she was about to open her car door, she heard Tommy's voice behind her, "Ms. Storm."

Tommy hadn't really left; he had just waited in an inconspicuous corner.

Hearing his voice, Stellan's heart tightened. There was no avoiding it now, but this time she was on guard and wouldn't be fooled again.

Stellan was startled to see Tommy.

Tommy was wearing a police uniform. Maybe it was just psychological, but it felt like his whole demeanor had changed just by wearing the uniform.

The Tommy standing before her now felt completely different from before.

Seeing Stellan's surprised expression, Tommy smiled slightly, "Surprised?"

He then showed her his badge, "I'm a police officer now."

Stellan was utterly confused. 'What was going on?'

Tommy explained the situation to Stellan, who was shocked, "You mean you were an undercover cop all along?"

"Yes," Tommy said apologetically. "I'm sorry, I couldn't reveal it before because I was on

a mission. To gain Ambrose's trust, I had to do some things that made Mr. Knight

misunderstand. I'm very ashamed and deeply sorry to you and Mr. Knight."

Tommy bowed deeply to Stellan, who quickly said, "Please, don't do that."

"I'm really sorry. My previous actions made Mr. Knight very angry and caused trouble for both of you. I apologize again."

After repeatedly apologizing, Tommy said, "Ms. Storm, I came today to say sorry. I'll leave you to your work now."

With that, Tommy bowed slightly again and then turned to leave.

It took Stellan a while to process what had happened. An undercover cop?

Was this a real-life spy movie? Tommy was an undercover cop?

Amazing!

After calming down, Stellan got into her car and, almost as if guided by fate, drove to Nexus Innovations.

She looked up at the top floor. Alaric should still be there, right?

She took out her phone and checked it also empty. After some thought, she called Silas.

"Ms. Storm."

"Silas, is Alaric still at the office?"

"Mr. Knight is still here."

"Did he mention where he's going tonight?"

"Mr. Knight might be going to a hotel tonight. He just asked me to change his room because the previous one was a bit small..."

'He's staying at a hotel again tonight and not coming home? Alaric, you're something else!' Stellan felt angry.

Stellan hung up and drove off quickly. A cold wind blew in, making her shiver.

It was late fall, and the weather was getting colder. She thought of Alaric, who had left home with just one set of clothes. The company's break room was his temporary resting place, and he didn't have many clothes there.

When he got busy, he forgot everything, including buying clothes. He just recovered; a cold or fever could be serious.

'Stellan, he chose to leave home. Why should you care?' Stellan muttered to herself, but she couldn't harden her heart. She called Silas again.

"Silas, I need a favor. Come to The Knight Mansion. I'll pack some things for Alaric, and you can take them to him."

"Okay, Ms. Storm. I'm on my way."

Forty minutes later, Silas arrived at Alaric's office with a suitcase and reported, "Mr.

Knight, Ms. Storm asked me to bring this to you."

Alaric looked at the large suitcase.

From Stellan? Was she banishing him for good?

"Put it in my car!" Alaric snapped at Silas, "Did you really need to bring this to my office?"

"Yes, Mr. Knight. I'll take it right away." Silas quickly took the suitcase and left.

Alaric was furious. He had hoped Stellan would make the first move, but this was what he got!

Unable to work, he drove back to the hotel. He didn't want to take the suitcase but curiosity got the better of him. He brought it to his room.

He opened it angrily, but his movements froze when he saw what was inside.
