Chapter 1547: The Price
Chapter 1547: Chapter 1547: The Price
Demarco Mount.
The rear hall of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance.
Originally, this was the bedchamber of Julius Reed.
The rear hall is vast, and its entire complex rivals the size of ten front halls.
After all, the front hall is only used for handling affairs and receiving foreign guests.
But the rear hall is where life happens.
Various entertainment venues, dining places, and even a helipad are all built in the rear hall.
One could say this is the most prosperous place for Demarco Mount.
A paradise above all others.
Nowadays.
Things have changed.
The owner of the rear hall has become Cold Nelson.
To show his magnanimity, Cold Nelson, after taking office, announced the release of all who served the former lord.
Let bygones be bygones.
Those willing to stay can continue working at the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance.
However, the personal guards and maids were all replaced.
When it comes to security, even false benevolence must give way. noveldrama
"Lord." The attendants bent over in unison.
Cold Nelson walked alone on the streets of the rear hall, feeling complicated.
The sky was already getting dark.
There were still three hours until the meeting of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance.
He didn’t bring anyone, not even a weapon.
And many of the attendants nodding and bowing to him belonged to Seamus Somerset, the true king of the Military Department.
Puppet!
Puppet!
Puppet!
Cold Nelson clenched his fists, muttering this word incessantly!
Braving great disapproval, announcing himself as the new lord while the former lord remains alive, surely he would become the target of all!
So!
He, Cold Nelson, was pushed up to bear all the pressure!
But now!
He didn’t want to be a puppet; he wanted to be his true self!
The true lord!
Cold Nelson lifted his head, looking at a palace in front of him.
That was the bedchamber of the lord.
Julius Reed once lived there.
"Lord, may I ask where you are going..." An attendant leader stepped forward and inquired with a smile.
"Do I need to report my actions to you?" Cold Nelson stopped, his face dark.
"The lord takes it too seriously..." The attendant leader laughed awkwardly: "You know, the true king has instructed us to stay here, making it difficult for us. Besides, this is a forbidden place where the former lord lived, ominous and obscure."
"Get lost!"
Cold Nelson pushed aside the attendant leader forcefully and strode in!
Again, the true king of the Military Department!
Again, Seamus Somerset!
The true king of the Military Department controls the combat forces of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance.
Except for the Wolf Cavalry, all military strength is in the hands of Seamus Somerset.
Including these guards!
"Seamus Somerset!" Cold Nelson almost spat out the name from between his teeth.
"Hm! Let’s see how many more days you can last. As soon as the former lord dies, the true king will immediately take your head and replace you! Just a puppet, thinking himself to be the lord." The guard leader sneered with disdain.
Everyone in Demarco Mount knew Cold Nelson was a puppet!
A waste!
Though carrying the title of lord, he had no real power!
"I hope you still have the chance to say that tomorrow." Cold Nelson suddenly stopped, turned to look at the guard leader: "Let me remind you, the dead cannot speak."
Having said that.
He turned around and left.
Only leaving the somewhat stunned guards behind.
"Madman! Does he really think he is the lord?" The guard leader gathered his wits and sneered.
Does a tortoise think it can flip over?
Daydreaming!
Since Julius Reed’s disappearance, his bedchamber had become a forbidden area.
No one was allowed to approach.
But now, Cold Nelson was at least the nominal lord.
Just a mere palace, the guards did not stop him from entering.
After all, some face must be given.
Cold Nelson continued westward, walking countless steps until he finally stood before the bedchamber.
Drunk Flower Building.
The place where Julius Reed once lived.
Looking up at the bold and magnificent inscription, Cold Nelson’s lips curled into a smile.
If, four years ago, someone said he might become the lord, surely everyone would have scoffed, indifferent?
But now.
He made it happen.
He sat in Demarco Mount, on the throne!
Though not Julius Reed’s throne, it was still the throne of Demarco Mount!
Puppet?
Although he sat with the identity of a puppet, Cold Nelson was soon about to shed this puppet identity and become the true, undisputed ruler of all!
Four years.
Tremendous change!
Creak.
He pushed open the door.
Crossing the high threshold, he entered the bedchamber.
Spacious!
Cold and empty!
Not a trace of life.
The floor was free of dust.
Four years, spotless.
It seemed unscientific, yet this was credited to the former lord’s invention.
It ensured the bedchamber remained dust-free.
Even after he left, this technology continued to be used.
Tap! Tap! Tap...
Cold Nelson walked in the spacious bedchamber, footsteps echoing endlessly.
He gazed at the familiar architecture, familiar scenes, yet could not see that familiar person.
Dreamlike!
He dropped to his knees, spreading his hands, closing his eyes!
Enjoyment!
He basked in the glory of the lord!
Now, he was the lord!
He achieved what so many people, for so many years, never could!
He replaced that invincible man!
Standing at the peak of martial arts!
"Have you decided?"
In the spacious room, suddenly a voice came.
Cold Nelson snapped open his eyes!
Speaking with unwavering determination: "I’m ready!"
"I’ll ask you one last time," the voice came again: "You... will not regret?"
"I will never regret it!"
Cold Nelson spread his arms, with a tone of finality: "Come on!"
"Alright."
A figure emerged from the darkness.
It was a woman.
The woman wore a pink long dress, her hair draped over her shoulders, with a hairpin in her hair.
On the hairpin, there was a peach blossom.
"Do you know why I chose you?" The woman put her hands together, smiling: "Want to know the reason?"
"I do!"
This was what most puzzled Cold Nelson!
Why choose him?
So many in the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance!
With more power than him, easier to control than him!
Yet this fell upon him.
"Those stronger than you aren’t as easy to control. Those easier to control aren’t as fitting as you." The woman circled around Cold Nelson: "You are someone the lord trusted, having served as an assistant, well-versed in the internal structure of the Ten Thousand Mountain Alliance. Moreover, you have ambition. I like ambitious people because ambition will drive you to pay any price."
"So, what is the price." Cold Nelson looked up.
"A price you find hard to bear." The woman spread her hand, revealing a knife.
"I can bear it!" Cold Nelson closed his eyes, his heart rate accelerating sharply: "I have nothing left to lose."
He murmured quietly to himself: "Except for the throne..."
Swoosh!
The woman swiftly slashed Cold Nelson’s wrist with the dagger in her hand!
Simultaneously, she cut her own palm!
Pressing it against his!
"I give you immortality, but what you lose is far greater than what you gain," the woman said coldly.
"Why did you not choose to save those people?" Cold Nelson suddenly asked: "Eliezer Pine, you too have ambition, do you not?"
"Why would I save the ’Emperor?’" Eliezer Pine smiled gently.
"You need a leader," Cold Nelson opened his eyes.
"Then I will become the leader," Eliezer Pine’s eyes held pride: "No one is born destined to be a leader."
What do you think?
