Chapter 1535 The Short Person
"Yeah," Annika nodded. "As soon as we get the results, I'll let you know."
"Alright, it's late. Get some rest," Sadie advised.
"What about you?" Annika asked, concerned. "It's almost 2 AM, and you haven't slept. You have to be at the office early tomorrow."
"I'll just review a few more documents."
As Sadie spoke, her phone vibrated. She glanced at the caller ID and gave Annika a look.
Annika quickly went to close the door to prevent any eavesdropping.noveldrama
Sadie answered the call, "Olivia?"
"Sadie, am I bothering you?" Olivia's voice sounded hesitant.
"No," Sadie replied, surprised that Olivia was calling. "What's up?"
"I have some questions," Olivia began, then hesitated. "I'm not sure if I should ask."
"Go ahead," Sadie encouraged.
Just as Olivia was about to speak, the call abruptly ended.
Sadie called out a couple of times, but there was no response.
She frowned, debating whether to call back, but ultimately decided against it.
She thought, Olivia must be dealing with something on her end. Calling back might complicate things.
"Why did the call drop?" Annika asked, hoping Olivia would discuss something important with Sadie.
"Maybe something urgent came up on her end," Sadie speculated, squinting slightly. "But the fact that she called means she found something, which is good."
"So, what do we do next?" Annika asked softly.
"What else can we do?" Sadie said calmly. "The enemy is still in hiding. We have to wait for them to make a move, then respond accordingly."

"Alright."
Annika was about to say something when her phone rang. She quickly answered, "Jessica, what's the update?"
"We checked it out. It was the restaurant's delivery truck. They were transporting fresh beef, and the packaging broke, causing blood to leak out and splatter on our car when they swerved."
"Okay," Annika sighed in relief. "As long as everything's fine. Come back and get some rest."
"Will do, Annika."
Jessica hung up and turned to the short delivery guy, "Be more careful driving next time. The mountain roads are narrow. If you crash, it's dangerous for everyone."
"Yes, yes, we'll be more careful," the restaurant owner nodded repeatedly, then turned and yelled at the delivery guy, "Did you hear that? Be more careful, you idiot." "Shouldn't you be the one being careful?"
The delivery guy, wearing a black mask and cap, with short hair, retorted sharply, "You were speeding on the mountain road. Were you in a hurry to die?"

Jessica's face flushed with anger, and she almost lunged at him, but Aurora held her back, frowning at the delivery guy, "Sir, you're young. No need to be so harsh." "Exactly," the restaurant owner, worried about offending Jessica and Aurora, raised his hand and smacked the delivery guy on the back of the head, scolding, "Just be careful and stop talking back."
Before the words were fully out, the delivery guy had the owner pinned against the cutting board. The large kitchen knife on the board was positioned right next to the owner's neck, sharp and menacing!
The owner was terrified, eyes wide with fear, not daring to make a sound.
"I'm a temp, not your slave," the short delivery guy said coldly, eyes narrowed as he stared at the owner. "Don't boss me around."
The owner's mouth hung open, trembling with fear, unable to utter a word.
Jessica and Aurora were stunned. It took them a moment to react and step forward to intervene.
Before they could do anything, the delivery guy pushed the owner away, casually picked up the large knife, and started cleaning his nails with it.
"You can go now. Be careful driving next time."
What do you think?
