Desmond was terrified that if he pushed back against Gabriel any more, he'd be

shipped off overseas.

"Clara, don't worry. I'm not leaving you."

Despite Desmond's attempt to reassure her, Clara couldn't calm down.

She didn't really hear Desmond's comforting words; instead, she kept hearing the flight attendant's voice, confirming that Desmond was indeed on a plane.

"Desmond, are you really on a plane? Where are you going?" she cried, her voice shaking with fear.

Clara never thought Desmond would just up and leave like that. Even with all the chaos, she hadn't seen this coming.

But she didn't get a straight answer from Desmond, just a quick, "Clara, I'll call you when I land," followed by the busy signal.

The call ended, and Clara couldn't hold back her tears.

After crying for a while, she wiped her eyes and called Brynn.

She was sure the Elise family was behind this mess!

"Lucas, Dylan, do you not believe me either?"

Dylan quickly reassured her, "No, we believe you, Clara. Don't worry. Just tell us what happened, and we'll help sort this out."

Clara felt a bit more at ease.

She looked at them and softly explained, "Nothing happened between us. That day, Mom had an accident, and I went to Desmond to ask for help finding a doctor for her."

Hearing Clara's words, both of them felt a pang of sympathy.

"Clara, don't worry. We'll handle this. You don't need to stress."

After comforting Clara for a while, they left.

"Katniss, Ethan knows Starhaven well. Go with him and get familiar with the place. If you don't want to go anywhere else, let him take you to Starhaven Medical University, where your training will be."

Before Ethan could respond, Brent said, "He'll figure it out. Don't worry. You young folks should get out more. Ethan, take good care of Katniss."

Ethan acknowledged, and Brent finally ended the call.

Katniss looked at Ethan, who showed no expression. She hesitated before speaking. "Maybe we shouldn't go. I can just read at the hotel."

"We're going to Starhaven Medical University. Didn't you want to see the library?"

Ethan stepped aside, ready to leave at any moment.

Katniss quickly grabbed her bag and followed him out the door. "Let's go."

Since Brent had asked Ethan to show her around, it would be rude to refuse now that he was here.

Ethan led the way, and Katniss followed. They entered the elevator and headed to the garage, where Ethan pulled out a car key.

Katniss was about to sit in the back seat, but Ethan opened the front passenger door for her first.

Surprised, Katniss got in the front seat.

Ethan closed the door, walked around the car, and smoothly drove out of the garage.

They didn't talk much on the way. Katniss wasn't very talkative, and Ethan didn't seem to like talking either.

Katniss watched the scenery outside the window, and the silence in the car wasn't awkward.

Soon, they arrived at the gates of Starhaven Medical University.

Like most universities, the gates were always open, but the library required a student

or alumni card to enter.

Ethan parked the car and said softly, "Wait here."

He made a call, and a male voice answered, sounding surprised to hear from Ethan.

Katniss waited quietly, just like Ethan.

She listened as Ethan asked the person on the other end to bring a student card, and she couldn't help but glance around the campus.

It was probably class time, as there weren't many people on the paths, but the campus was beautiful and serene.

After a short wait, a guy in sportswear, sweating and holding a basketball, ran over. "Ethan?" he called out as he approached the car.

Ethan got out and extended his hand. "Where's the card?"

"Do I look like I have a card on me? Come on, let's go find someone who does." The

guy leaned on Ethan, trying to drape an arm around his neck, but Ethan easily dodged.

Katniss watched them curiously, unsure if she should get out of the car.

As she hesitated, Ethan called out.

"Katniss, come on. We're going to get the student card."

Katniss got out of the car, and the guy with the basketball looked at her in shock, asking incredulously, "Ethan, are you dating someone behind my back? And she's so pretty. I thought you spent all your time in the lab."

Katniss almost stumbled at his words, but she caught herself on the car door, avoiding an embarrassing fall.

"I'm not..." Katniss started to explain, but Ethan cut in, "She's not my girlfriend, just a junior."

The guy didn't believe him and teased, "Oh, really? So, is she studying medicine too?"

His teasing tone made Katniss blush, half from embarrassment and half from the urgency to explain.
